Good morning everyone. . .
So the reason for the morning post is that I am in Pomona at Heather's apartment and she is out for the day at one of her many responsibilities (today it is the internship). I came down last night as to not deal with good ol' morning traffic and also to give us a little bit more time together (and Heather time has been at a minimum as of late).
The apartment is really nice - she now has her room all set up (including the desk and filing cabinet that we picked up at IKEA last week when I was down here) and she looks so happy here. This is now home for her. It will be so for the next two years (at least, I guess) and I'm happy that she likes it. She also really likes her roommate Sydney, a girl she met at Cal Poly Pomona who has very similar aspirations (veterinarian-wise). She's cool - we don't know each other very well as of now, but I'm sure that will change as we have two years of me visiting as much as I can in front of us. It's such a relief to just not be in that dorm anymore (is this me or Heather talking. . .). I love it and I'm stoked for her to have this opportunity. End of story.
On my living front, there is constant rumors (a lot like all those KG and Kobe trade rumors - - all of which are unlikely to occur) but nothing going. Yet. Apparently Chels is in dire need of moving out and is looking for apartments near the CSUN campus. She is looking at this moment, I believe. I'm absolutely interested, but it will require a little bit of immediate sacrifice. Since I have gotten the chance at the A.M. position at the FL, I will probably have to hang around my store for at least six months or so.
SO. . . .
If I do in fact get the position (I have completed my training and have two weeks to study the main material before I go have the interview thing with the GM at the Northridge store - after that I will get keys to my store and will be an official Assistant Manager) then I will have to drive to work five days a week or so I guess. So I will be both commuting and paying rent (which is the same thing as if I moved out into an apartment in the Antelope Valley) for the first semester or so. Once I get comfortable in the managerial shoes, I can request that transfer to a store down in the San Fernando Valley. It might be worth it to go through that first six months or so just to get that transfer eventually. I don't know. My goal I guess is to first get this promotion. After that, if it works out that I get to move out this summer, then great. If not, then I'll go through what I thought I would - which is commute to school and work at the FL the other days.
But, I guess time will tell. Time reveals everything - - -
So what else is new????
Well I had that academic advisement at CSUN on Monday and it went pretty well. All of my General Education units are completed save for my required 9 Upper Division G.E. units (three classes which I take at CSUN) and an Upper Division Writing Test that I have to take before I graduate. I got my schedule for the first semester figured out, but I just have to see if I can make it work in a straight, concise way. Also, my goal is to get them into two days. We'll see.
Not much more to report since I've been working every day since last Thursday (I worked seven straight days). . . Well I have six more hours to kill (it's now noon) until Heather gets back so I'll probably go work on my schedule thing, then I'll do some studying for my interview. I also brought some books that I have been working on and a few movies (CLERKS 2 has been playing while I have been posting). So I'll be fine. We'll probably go to dinner after she gets back and then I'm not sure what after that.
But again, time reveals everything. . .

The Week Grab-Bag: The Bicentennial Version
Welcome everyone to the 200th post in the history of A RAMBLER'S RAMBLING! I really can't believe that I've made it this many posts! Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me all 200 times I've published my thoughts onto this website and to all those who this is their first experience with my writing. I hope I'm around for another 200!
On another note, I am not really sorry that it's been since the first of the year that I've posted. Not only have I worked every single day since 01/01, I have been to every practice and game that the girls basketball team has had. I have been a very busy bee to say the least.
So without further ado, allow me to get to my week in review, also known as the WEEK GRAB-BAG. Veterans of ARR, rest assured that the following will be in all ways non-chronological!
- I have been working my tiny white ass off at the FL. In fact, when I go into work in the morning, that will be my seventh straight day being at the FL. Three of those days I had off, but was either called in (and could not say no because I'm trying to make a good impression, which, lo and behold has worked - my GM moved my status from seasonal to permanent!) or were covered shifts for someone else. After further review of the job, I'm still happier than I ever was at JC. It is head and head and shoulders above that awful restaurant. And yes, as I mentioned before, the money is not nearly as good at the FL. But you know what? I don't care. Sure, it's going to be a little tougher on me financially (especially after I spent over $600 on Christmas and Heather's birthday - the 27th of December - combined) but I'll deal with that when I need to. Right now, I'm content, and you really can't ask for more than that!
- On Tuesday of this week, league play begins for the Desert Christian basketball teams. The girls come riding in with a record of 8-3 and winning for reasons that escape us coaches. We defeated Paraclete in the most hyped game of the year (we won by 3 in a tight game, so I guess it was worthy of all the hype) and that's an outstanding lead-in to league.
- My plan in the morning is to head to AVC and more specifically the transfer center to get them to send my nearly-final transcript to CSUN. With this submission, I will be admitted into CSUN for the fall semester of 2007. And so the fun begins. . .
- I have been bowling a little more recently and I'm continuing to proudce excellent scores. I recorded a brand new high score (219!) and my average is now usually over 160 (although my most recent night gave me a 155 average). The last time we went, Chris beat me for the first time (5 games to 4) and I did not take it very well. I bowled another game by myself, recording a 180, just to prove to myself that I could still do it. I'm such a bad loser. . .
- The amount of 2006-released films that I saw now sits at 50 and what follows is going to be a list of them with the letter grade that I gave it. Anything that received a (B-) or higher is a film that I would recommend. The others are not necessary to be seen, but have some merit (although the ones at the bottom have no recommendable factors at all). I divided them up into groups by the grade they got with no order necessarily in their groups. The films in italics are comedies are graded on a different scale so take that into consideration too. . . So here you go:

There's my verdict. What's yours???
- Don't ask about the football pool. I'm still upset. . . (that means I didn't win a single week and I didn't place at the end. . . AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!)
- Ok, let's see. . . I have Thursday and Friday of this coming week off (at least at the moment). I'll do the FIRST THIRD MOVIE PREVIEW on one of those days. Don't worry. I've decided to do 15 films and one wild-card and only two have January release dates - - and they're late January at that. Just look for it soon!
- Had some fun with Chelsea's new computer (Christmas gift) and a program that manipulates pictures. Check it out:

- New Year's Eve was pretty fun. That's all you really need to know I guess. . .
- Heather is just about settled in her dorm at Cal Poly Pomona. She has made some friends (something that she really didn't have in the LB) which makes yours truly very happy. I love that she is being forced to be social. This is where she is going to make life-long friends (seeing that her high school girls are kinda loosey goosey and don't respond to Heather's efforts) and that makes me happy. She is also loving her classes (one is an Animal Handling class and her first class was spent entirely on learning how to examine rabbits - this is Heather's heaven!) and I'm so glad for her. I also learned this week that the Ontario Mills Mall (an awesome shopping center) is just 10 miles from Pomona, so we have a date central now! All in all, it's going to be awesome and I know it. I KNOW it!
- Random older movie recommendations:
NARC (A dark, gritty cop drama - not for the faint of heart. Excellent performances and just an all around great film. Also, as a caution: it's an open ending, so don't watch it unless you can handle a lack of closure.)
LOVE ACTUALLY (A really good rom com. Heather loved it and I was not bored. That's a great film if you ask me!)
- And finally for tonight, a video of one of the greatest dunks in the history of the NBA (in my opinion) and the biggest reason that Kevin Johnson was, is, and always will be my favorite basketball player of all-time:
What you need to know about this:
- K.J. is 6'1''. Hakeem is 7'0''
- The Suns were down by almost ten in the waning minutes of this game, the clincher in the series for the Rockets. The game was over. K.J. was not giving up.
- The passion after the dunk. Priceless.
- O yeah, and EAT IT HAKEEM! Eat that elbow!
I hope you all continue to check in with me. I'm trying to do my best at blogging and I don't want to get away from it. I just like my posts to be meaningful and not just short blurbs.

99 Reasons to Anticipate 2007
So here's the deal:
In 2005, I posted 99 times (although I started in August, so that's a pretty big accomplishment, I think). So far, in 2006, I have posted 98 times. I find it funny that after an entire calendar year, I am only one post behind my total from the previous year. Either way, that leads me to do only one thing: Post for a 99th, and final time for 2006. I will begin fresh in 2007 and see if I can pull out 99 more posts before (gasp) 2008.
So do I really have 99 reasons to anticipate 2007? Well you're just gonna have to find out!

99. New Year's Eve this year is going to be fun. I guess this still is in 2006, but it's going to be an unofficial 2007 date. The plan is to go to Manny and Jenn's friends' Jeff and Jules' house for a, get this, party! I have never rung in the New Year in a party setting (where I'm actually partying, that is) so I'm excited! I'm sure there will be drinking (only by the legal ones though) by others, but I'm still gonna enjoy it because I'll be there with Heather and some friends (Cy, Justin, Emily, Mallory, Manny) and you can't not have fun with that right? Right!?!?!?
98. I have some new sweatshirts (a SUNS one I got for Christmas and two NIKE fleeces I bought on sale at work) to wear during the cold first couple months.
97. The NFL season of 2006, an absolutely mediocre season for prognosticators everywhere, will be completed. I officially have no shot of getting in the top 3 in my pool and I resorted to have Heather, a person with no knowledge of the NFL's teams, do my Week 17 picks just to see how she could do. She did win Saturday night's game (NYG over Redskins) and I would have picked the Redskins. Huh. . .
96. This is the SUNS' year! It has to be!
95. I'm enjoying my job at the FL. Even the worst day is better than the best day at JC. The only thing that I'm worried about is the amount of money I want to spend with my 30% employee discount! Either way, I'm excited for the possibilities that this job is going to bring me. Get this: a barely-18-year-old girl who has worked there for a year has just finished her assistant manager training. I'm almost 20 (which is old for the employees there - - a lot of my coworkers are 16-18 years old) so I feel like if I can learn a whole bunch of crap really fast that I have some potential here. We'll see. . .
94. In January, Heather and I will be celebrating our 3rd Anniversary
93. In May, I'll be 20!
92. In December, Heather will be 21!
91. My numerous gift cards that I received at Christmas will be used (among the places I will be spending money: American Eagle, Best Buy, Cinemark, Jamba Juice, and Baja Fresh).
90. My Guitar Hero skills will improve! Aimee and I got both GH1 and GH2 for Christmas (a combo gift for the siblings) and played most of Christmas morning. Look out! The Gotts are coming for ya!
89. Heather is moving to Pomona tomorrow (that's not happy for me, but it is for her) to begin the schooling that she really wants. Among her classes are large animal handling and companion animal care. She's excited! She's also nervous, but who wouldn't be? I know she is going to do great and I can't wait to hear all about her new knowledge.
88. Basketball season (high school, that is) will be kicking into high gear here in a couple weeks and I'm excited to see how league turns out.
87 -37. Movies. I saw 49 movies that were released in 2006 during 2006. That's almost one a week! I might watch one more before the day ends (who knows!) so that would give me 50 for 2006. 36. I got some bowling shoes for Christmas (from Heather, Chels, and Barbara) and that will only further my interest in the sport. I got a new high last week when I went (219!!!) and my average that night was 167! I'm getting better and since I'll be taking Intermediate Bowling during my last semester at AVC, I'm only gonna get better! Look for updates throughout 2007.
35. A year without Saddam Hussein! (Well actually, did anyone really feel safer after he got hung the other day? I didn't. Nothing has changed for me. I'm not sure if that old fart was worth all of this. . .)
34. A year without Britney Spears' panties! (Probably. I'm just assuming, seeing that the now-grossest woman in the entertainment world - beating out Paris Hilton just barely - can't seem to find her undergarments anywhere.)
33. A year without Charlie German! (That was my JC General Manager)
32. I will be defending my 3-point championship at the Men's March Madness Breakfast. And I'll be defending it well.
31. The possibility of winning $250,000 at the World Series of Pop Culture!
30. I will be learning more about the production of a newspaper this coming semester and I'll assuredly be published many more times. It's very exciting stuff!
29-06. Another year with Heather!
And now, the top 5 (I guess - it just ended up that way!)
05. A family trip to Lake Powell over Spring Break. It will be for Mom-Mom and Pop's 50th Anniversary. My aunt and uncle from Maryland (my dad's sister) as well as their two boys (Travis and Josh, both in their 20's) will be there. It should be fun, but it will ultimately be a great source for stories for the future. Looking forward to it!
04. Aimee will be 15 and Caleb will be, get this, 6! Aaahhh!!!!!! My siblings are growing up so fast and it's really scary. Why can't they stay at an age?!?!?! (And yes, I realize that I'm getting older too and that my parents would say the same about me, but this is my perspective!)
03. Throughout 2006, I met (or saw up close) many famous people: Bill Simmons, Kevin Smith, Jack Nicholson, among others. What will 2007 bring????
02. 2007 ultimately leads to 2008, which is the year that I get to finally go to Viva Las Vegas and play some real live poker! I can't wait for our road trip in May of 2008!!!
01. The beginning of my future. This year is going to be the most changing year of all. If all goes according to plan (and you really never know), at this time next year, I will be blogging from either a house or an apartment in the Los Angeles area (probably Valencia, but maybe Northridge). I will have completed my first semester at Cal State Northridge. I will have been moved out of my parents' house for a half a year (the tentative moving out period is June). I will be living with some friends (among them will be Chels, the future sister-in-law) and enjoying every minute of it (even if there are feuds!). I will be closer to Heather (only 50 miles between CSUN and CPP). I will be closer to marrying Heather (every year that passes is another year closer to us getting married)! All in all, I will be beginning to move towards my life and what I will become.
I really can't wait to see how this year goes. And just know that I'll be letting you know what is going on every step of the way. Thanks to all my readers and I hope you all stick around (and maybe even let someone else know about this site - - they don't have to know me to read about what's going on to me!) until New Years Eve 2007.

I'm getting better and since I'll be taking Intermediate Bowling during my last semester at AVC, I'm only gonna get better! Look for updates throughout 2007.
35. A year without Saddam Hussein! (Well actually, did anyone really feel safer after he got hung the other day? I didn't. Nothing has changed for me. I'm not sure if that old fart was worth all of this. . .)
34. A year without Britney Spears' panties! (Probably. I'm just assuming, seeing that the now-grossest woman in the entertainment world - beating out Paris Hilton just barely - can't seem to find her undergarments anywhere.)
33. A year without Charlie German! (That was my JC General Manager)
32. I will be defending my 3-point championship at the Men's March Madness Breakfast. And I'll be defending it well.
31. The possibility of winning $250,000 at the World Series of Pop Culture!
30. I will be learning more about the production of a newspaper this coming semester and I'll assuredly be published many more times. It's very exciting stuff!
29-06. Another year with Heather!
And now, the top 5 (I guess - it just ended up that way!)
05. A family trip to Lake Powell over Spring Break. It will be for Mom-Mom and Pop's 50th Anniversary. My aunt and uncle from Maryland (my dad's sister) as well as their two boys (Travis and Josh, both in their 20's) will be there. It should be fun, but it will ultimately be a great source for stories for the future. Looking forward to it!
04. Aimee will be 15 and Caleb will be, get this, 6! Aaahhh!!!!!! My siblings are growing up so fast and it's really scary. Why can't they stay at an age?!?!?! (And yes, I realize that I'm getting older too and that my parents would say the same about me, but this is my perspective!)
03. Throughout 2006, I met (or saw up close) many famous people: Bill Simmons, Kevin Smith, Jack Nicholson, among others. What will 2007 bring????
02. 2007 ultimately leads to 2008, which is the year that I get to finally go to Viva Las Vegas and play some real live poker! I can't wait for our road trip in May of 2008!!!
01. The beginning of my future. This year is going to be the most changing year of all. If all goes according to plan (and you really never know), at this time next year, I will be blogging from either a house or an apartment in the Los Angeles area (probably Valencia, but maybe Northridge). I will have completed my first semester at Cal State Northridge. I will have been moved out of my parents' house for a half a year (the tentative moving out period is June). I will be living with some friends (among them will be Chels, the future sister-in-law) and enjoying every minute of it (even if there are feuds!). I will be closer to Heather (only 50 miles between CSUN and CPP). I will be closer to marrying Heather (every year that passes is another year closer to us getting married)! All in all, I will be beginning to move towards my life and what I will become.
I really can't wait to see how this year goes. And just know that I'll be letting you know what is going on every step of the way. Thanks to all my readers and I hope you all stick around (and maybe even let someone else know about this site - - they don't have to know me to read about what's going on to me!) until New Years Eve 2007.
